Jami Hossain

Dr. Jami Hossain, a mechanical engineer, is a well known expert in Renewable Energy, specifically wind energy, and has been active in this field since 1985. He is currently the Technical Chair of the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) (wwindea.org). His contributions to energy and environment sectors include setting up of the first windfarms in India in 1986, assessment of potential for onshore and offshore windfarms in India 2011, and in facilitating introduction of gearless wind turbines in India. He received wind industry award in 2008 and again in 2021 for industry leadership. Dr. Hossain has written two books and scores of other publications. He has been acknowledged by International Solar Energy Society (ISES) for his pioneering role in Renewable Energy.

In 2017, Dr. Hossain started mentoring a startup Tawanai EnergyTech Private Limited (https://twa-energy.com/ ) , which has been actively providing services to IPPs in their windfarm projects.

While participating in technical assistance projects of ADB, World Bank etc., Dr. Hossain advises IPPs and corporate sector on strategies to harness wind and hybrid projects as well as in actual project development.
