President and Chief Technology Officer of Mingyang Smart Energy Group, Mr. Qiying Zhang is celebrated for his profound contributions to the field of wind power technology.
A professor-level senior engineer proficient in English and German, Mr. Zhang has commanded pivotal national and provincial research and development projects focused on designing and manufacturing wind turbine generator systems and applying wind power technology. His innovative work has propelled Mingyang Smart Energy Group to the forefront of the renewable energy industry.
Mr. Zhang has served as a visiting professor at Northwestern Polytechnic University and holds influential positions such as the deputy director of the Committee of Wind and Machinery Standardization of China, and the director of the Technical Committee of the 2nd Guangdong Wind Power Standardization. His expertise is further recognized through his roles as a senior expert and council member of the Investment Association of China, a council member of the 9th Chinese Renewable Energy Society, and vice president of the Silver Lake New Energy Strategy Research Center.
His scholarly and professional achievements include leading the development of several wind turbine generators that power over 600 wind farms globally, including China's first floating wind turbine generator. This pioneering project was not only exported internationally but also supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 grant.
In recognition of his technical excellence and innovation, Mr. Zhang has received multiple prestigious awards, including first prizes for Science and Technology Progress in China and Guangdong, a second prize in Zhongshan Science and Technology Progress, and the Excellent Guangdong Patent Award. He is also the inventor listed on 53 licensed patents and 12 invention patents.
A contributor to international regulatory frameworks, Mr. Zhang has played a significant role in the formulation of two international standards, two national standards, and one local standard, and has authored publications that have furthered global knowledge in renewable energy.
